The IF3 International Freeski Film Festival, presented by The North Face, Reebok and Salomon, is pleased to present the third edition of the IF3, September 17-20, 2009 in Montreal, Quebec. Freeskiing is one of the fastest growing and most skillful snow disciplines today, and has quickly developed an impressive community of dedicated filmmakers working to chronicle the sport’s evolution and talent through film. The IF3 will feature the world premieres of the top twelve professional films along with five amateur movies, and will draw athletes and adrenaline addicts from all over the world. The film showcase and its surrounding events will take place all weekend at Cinema Imperial, Centre Sandra & Leo Kolber Salle Lucie & André Chagnon, in Montreal. No doubt festival highlights will include appearances by some of freeskiing’s top riders including Tanner Hall, Sammy Carlson, JP Auclair, Charles Gagnier, Tom Wallisch, Sean Pettit, JF Cusson, Matt Walker, Arnaud Kugener, Mike Douglas, and many other pros.

In addition to the loaded film schedule at Cinema Imperial, the IF3’s activities will include two free outdoor screenings presented by The North Face and Red Bull. Held in the Old Montreal, these screenings are set to feature the best of the best of IF3. The first screening will kick off the weekend with the Red Bull Cold Rush movie as well as IF3’s 2008 Movie of the Year, Poorboyz Productions’ Reasons, on Thursday, Sept 17th. The second will take place on the last day of the festival in front of a much larger crowd and will feature the 2009 IF3 movie of the year in what will surely be a perfect way to conclude the third annual International Freeskiing Film Festival.
On top of the outdoor screenings and premieres, the IF3 will provide daily autograph signing sessions with the top freeskiers in the world, at the IF3 Launch Party on Thursday night at Club Lamouche, Friday night’s Reebok Classic Party featuring new school and old school hip hop artists at Theatre Telus, Saturday night’s Newschoolers Awards with Reggae artists Mikey Dangerous and a DJ set from Payz Play at Theatre Telus, and last but not least, the JF Cusson Golf Invitational on Monday.

Oakley, Inc., in conjunction with 1242 Productions, announced today the upcoming release of “Uniquely,” a 35-minute travel inspired women’s action sports film shot exclusively in High-Definition (HD).
“Uniquely” is a 6-section travel inspired women’s multi–sport (snowboard, ski, surf, skate, wake) film that exposes the “unique” personalities and lifestyles of the athletes involved as they pass the baton, or camera, from one location to the next.
The “Uniquely” film takes viewers on a cultural journey through Japan, Russia, Colorado, California, Indonesia, Brazil, Australia and beyond. Audiences will explore the remote corners of the earth with the women of Oakley, as they search for perfect conditions while building lasting memories and lifelong friendships.

remporte le Flocon du Meilleur Film Freeride 2008 à l'International Freeride Film Festival de Saint Lary-Soulan
Les pyrénéens étaient à l'affiche lors du palmarès de cette 3e édition, remportant 2 prix sur 5, avec le Flocon du Meilleur Rideur Freeride 2008 decerné à Xavier De Le Rue, champion du monde de snowboard et enfant de la station, et le Flocon du Public "La Dépêche" et "La Nouvelle République" remporté par le collectif pyrénéen représenté par Thierry Saint Paul, Julien Maguy et Holeg Spies. Le prix suprême du Flocon du Meilleur Film de Freeride 2008 revient à "Lines", film réalisé par le snowboardeur Axel Pauporté. "Axel a fait un travail incroyable sur le sourcing des images, le côté historique retracé également au travers de son film fera de "Lines" un film de qualité qui restera dans le temps comme une référence", nous explique Maritxu Darrigrand, présidente du Jury. "Il a remporté l'unanimité du Jury, toute générations confondu, chez les femmes comme chez les hommes," rajoute-t-elle.
Isabelle Mir, Présidente d'Honneur du Festival depuis sa première édition avait le déplacement également, "Je suis très fière de rester la marraine de ce Festival quand je voie son évolution, en l'organisant ici dans les Pyrénées, Bruno Delaye a réussi a faire venir des passionnés du monde entier. Avoir la chance de pouvoir partager des moments avec tous, et voir chaque année l'évolution du sport sur les pistes, sur le park de Saint Lary ou dans les images est une grande joie pour moi. Il faut que l'on soit tous derrière ce projet et continuer à développer l'image de nos massifs dans le monde!"
Le collectif pyrénéen a été l'auteur d'une performance jamais réalisée en France, mixant en direct son et images (2 sources de son avec 2 sources d'images), qui a séduit et envoûtée le public venu nombreux assister à cet évènement unique.(voir ci-dessous)
"Nous sommes vraiment content qu'il y ait eu cette emphase entre nous et le public vendredi soir, nous avons beaucoup travaillé sans être sûr de savoir comment cela serait perçu. C'est une reconnaissance pour les Pyrénées française et espagnole et nous remercions tout le collectifs qui nous a permis de rassembler ces images et ont cru à notre projet", nous déclare Thierry St Paul.
Jean Henry Mir, maire de Saint Lary-Soulan nous confiait lui sa joie d'avoir vu cette édition prendre un côté international avec la venu de nombreux réalisateurs étrangers. "Je suis ravi de voir que des réalisateurs espagnol présentent un film cette année, que des rideurs du Pays ai fait le déplacement dans notre station pour cet évènement."

Flocon du Meilleur Film : LINES
"LINES" est un film documentaire d'Axel Pauporté au sujet du snowboarding de grande montagne en Alaska. Il suit un crew pendant 6 semaines dans les montagnes de Chugach et présente ce qu'il faut pour rider ces uniques montagnes et filmer une vidéo de snowboard : l'attente, le stress, les dangers, tout ce qu'est le film et qui n'est habituellement jamais montré. Il retrace également une partie de l'histoire de cette discipline inconnue et rend hommage aux pionniers. Mais le film se concentre vraiment sur l'aspect humain et pourquoi ces personnes font ça. Un accent est également mis sur l'aspect visuel des scènes et une approche plus cinématographique au documentaire. Une pure merveille.
Flocon du Meilleur Rider : Xavier De Le Rue
Xavier est omniprésent présent dans de nombreux films en compétition comme "Lines", "Coeur" de Julien Matta ou "Manu Gaidet et Xavier De Le Rue" réalisé par Guido Perrini pour Rossignol. C'est dans ce film tourné en Alsaka et en Russie en 16 mm, que Xavier est le plus impressionnant d'engagement, de motivation, de vitesse, sans oublier de style, en totale harmonie ici avec le skieur Manu Gaidet avec qui il partage ses descentes..
Flocon de la Meilleure Prise de Vue : Enjoy Grosse production américaine pour ce film où le réalisateur Sky Pinnick et son équipe sont venus à St Lary pour présenter leur projet. Des « handrails » interminable à New York, aux conditions parfaites d’Alaska, tous étaient là aux meilleurs moments. Le réchauffement de la planète étant leur principal obstacle, faire un film de ski devient un combat constant pour avoir les meilleurs conditions, mais Rage Films y arrive à merveille. A noter un gros segment incroyable avec le rideur français Enak Gavaggio. A ne pas rater en DVD pour ceux qui n'était là, et comme le dit le titre « Enjoy ».
Flocon de l'Esprit Free Ride : Save Le film s'intitule donc "SAVE" et nous adresse un message clair : sauvons dame nature ! "C'est vraiment le côté écologique et le message de ce film qui a séduit le Jury prenant en compte la réelle prise de conscience et l'engagement des réalisateurs au delà de leur message à prendre en compte tous les facteurs aggravant. Le fait qu'ils n'aient pas utilisés d'hélicoptère ou de moto neige a été le facteur décisif pour nous" déclare Claude Borrani, membre du Jury et directeur du groupe Freepresse.
